National Early Childhood Worker Register
The national rollout of the Worker Register occurred on Friday, 27 February. Approved Providers are now required to use the Worker Register to enter and maintain accurate and up-to-date information about all education and care service workers engaged at their services. This initiative gives regulators better visibility of who is working in the sector and where, strengthening oversight and supporting the safety and wellbeing of children.
To support this, the National Quality Agenda IT System (NQA IT System) has been expanded to capture this information.
Learn about how to access, create and maintain worker information in the Worker Register with our range of resources below.
Keeping your worker data up to date

How to Enter Worker Information
Approved Providers can enter workforce information into the Worker Register using one of three methods.
Method | Description | Supported Usage | Important Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
NQA ITS Portal (Individual) | An online form in the NQA IT System used to manage an individual worker’s record for a service. |
| Use this method for all updates and changes to existing worker records. |
Excel Bulk Upload | Allows multiple new worker records to be created at once using a standardised Excel template. |
| ⚠️ This method is for creating new worker records only. Do not use it to update existing worker details, as it will create duplicate entries—meaning the same worker will appear more than once in the Worker Register |
JSON Bulk Upload | Enables worker data to be exported from a provider’s workforce or third‑party system and imported into the NQA IT System using a defined JSON format. Designed for scalable, automated integration. |
| ⚠️ This method is for creating new worker records only. Do not use it to update existing worker details, as it will create duplicate entries—meaning the same worker will appear more than once in the Worker Register |
